Sahale Mountain - Skills Progression

Date: August 8, 2026

If you want to learn how to safely cross a glacier, experience class 3 scrambling, and learn how to properly rappel then this is a great trip to join!

Crusade Outdoors operates with a strong commitment to professionalism, safety, and continuous education. All trips and courses are designed around conservative decision-making, clear communication, and an instructional approach that prioritizes learning and situational awareness in mountain environments.

Our guiding philosophy follows widely recognized industry best practices, including AMGA-style frameworks for terrain selection, group management, and risk assessment. Objectives are carefully chosen based on conditions, participant experience, and margin for safety, with an emphasis on sound judgment over summit outcomes.

Guides with Crusade Outdoors maintain current medical training and pursue ongoing education in avalanche safety, glacier travel, and mountain rescue skills. We believe professional development is an ongoing process, and we actively seek opportunities to refine our skills through formal courses, mentorship, and real-world application.

Participants are screened prior to trips to ensure objectives are appropriate for their fitness, experience, and goals. All trips include a clear discussion of hazards, expectations, and responsibilities so that everyone involved understands the nature of travel in backcountry terrain.

Crusade Outdoors is committed to operating transparently, within a defined scope of practice, and with respect for both our participants and the mountain environments we travel through. Current training includes Wilderness EMT certification, avalanche safety education, glacier travel and crevasse rescue training, and ongoing professional development toward formal guide certification.
